To Be Constantly BETTER vs. To Be The BEST!

The average person thinks the vast possession of money is an end goal in itself, but I beg to differ. I believe the ultimate goal is ensuring you grow in value at every phase of your life.

I recently read a book and it’s fuelled a desire in me, more than ever, to become more aware of my oneness with infinite intelligence, with God. As someone who unapologetically believes I’m created in the image of God, I believe we have all the capacity there is to stretch and become BETTER. We only need to uncover it.

The idea of being constantly better rather than the best is about a shift in perspective from fixed achievement to ongoing growth.

And if you dig it deeply, BETTER seems to be such an ideal word – perhaps even the greatest word ever coined.

It’s an empowering word that reveals our lives as a CONSTANT WORK IN PROGRESS, reminding us that, regardless of certain milestones reached, we can still BE MORE.💯💯

And no, this is not an endorsement of burnout, perfectionism, and lack of contentment. (Take time to appreciate your progress!)

However, it is important to recognize that when we aim to be “the best,” we’re often driven by comparison – measuring ourselves against others and looking for an endpoint that defines “success.” But this mindset can limit us, keeping us in a box where we feel we’ve peaked, reached “enough,” or arrived at some unchangeable status.

The word BEST, negates everything Better stands for.

How do you know it’s my best🤷🏽‍♀️ when I’ve still got life in me to prove I can be better?

Call it overthinking or what you may…but the word best when personalized, only signifies the death of pursuit.

Because Is there really no room for further improvement? 🤔

It’s why Washington Allston’s quote,The only competition worthy of a wise man is with himself” will forever resonate.✅

In a world that often pushes us to be the best, it’s easy to fall into the mindset of aiming to surpass everyone around us. But is this really the most fulfilling approach to life?

As I conclude, I leave you with these few words I personally strung together, hoping we keep them in the most fertile soil of our mind, to germinate and yield good fruits.

THEY are not the competition; the absolute contender is the person you were two seconds ago.

Find your heartbeat❤️ and get better at the melodies it produces. 🎶💫
